A lot of the guys in our Discord are building something on the side while they raise a family: a sheep farm, a 3D-printing shop, a newsletter, a service business. The dadrepreneur fund is how the rest of us chip in without anyone writing a check.
Where the money comes from
Every time someone buys gear through an affiliate link on this site, the merchant pays us a small commission. The price is the same for the buyer. None of that commission stays with Dads Need Friends. All of it goes into a pot that funds three things: the businesses in our #entrepreneurs forum, community events like meetups and campouts, and giveaways back to members.
How it pays out
- Post your business in the #entrepreneurs forum on our Discord. One post per business. Tag it Needs funding and say what a small amount would cover: a domain name, a first batch of inventory, a tool, a license.
- When the pot can make a difference, we pick one or more posts and pay for that thing directly. We buy the domain, the inventory, the tool. No cash transfers, no strings.
- The dad who gets it posts an update in his thread, so everyone sees where the money went and what it did.
Two free ways to grow the pot
- Shop through our links when you are buying anyway. The Support Our Dadrepreneurs section on the homepage has gear we actually like. Same price to you.
- Install the Everkind browser extension and follow Dads Need Friends. It manages our affiliate links and nudges you to use them when you are already checking out somewhere we are partnered, so you never have to remember to come back here first. Follow us on Everkind →
Who can apply
Any member of the Dads Need Friends Discord. You do not have to be a dad, and the business does not have to be big. If you are building something real and a few hundred dollars would move it forward, post it.
Keeping it honest
The funded dad reports back in his own thread, we never take a cut, and we publish nothing about members without their say-so. If you have a question about where money went, ask in the forum or email info@dadsneedfriends.com.
