My previous group of friends dissolved over a year ago. We all got busy and seasons of life took us in different directions. We had been hanging out online and in person occasionally for over 7 years, so this left an absence in my life that I wasn't immediately aware of. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was different in my life, I mean, I have my wife and kids, and normal life events but I felt a growing sense of something missing despite seemingly having so much. I found the Dads Need Friends discord from a “Salty Saints” YouTube video. The idea of the discord server sparked my interest and I joined. This choice has brought me a new group of friends that offer a wealth of knowledge and experiences. I have been hanging out for several months now with new friends that share similar values and it has helped me fill that missing void in my life. I feel happier! I feel inspired by the experiences and determination of others to make me want to do better. I feel motivated and I also feel a sense of accountability. The past few months being a part of the Dads Need Friends group has blessed my life in various ways, and I’m very grateful for the new friendships that have been born from it! Shout out to the creators of the server and for taking action on an idea they had. That idea has affected my life for the better.

After joining, I immediately felt welcomed. Everyone is full of personality, and I’ve had so many nights of just laughing, having fun, and also going deep in spiritual conversations about self-improvement and how to handle life’s challenges. Now, I honestly look forward to being there every night I can. It’s become something I truly enjoy and value. If you’re a dad looking to make some new friends, grow spiritually, and have a place to relax and play some fun games, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Because of callings, I haven't been able to attend an Elders Quorum meeting over seven years. Participating in the Discord book clubs and game nights have been such a great way to connect with men of a similar age and situation.
